Performance Description:
[EN]
Transplanting Shade Scape Shape explores how nature and
human bodies are shaped through systems of care and control. Managed by MA42 (Wiener Stadtgärten – Parks and Gardens), trees in cities,
are selected, numbered, monitored, pruned, transplanted, and maintained within architectural and spatial structures. Their growth is permitted only within assigned territories.
This condition parallels the visa system managed by MA35 (Immigration and Citizenship), in which
foreign bodies are documented, regulated, and required to justify their presence. By replacing these two systems alongside one another, the work considers how acts of care can become entangled with mechanisms of control, and how both human and non-human bodies are permitted to inhabit, move through and remain within particular spaces.
