Between eyelids and pupils begins with the question ‘How should one live ones life?’ a questions inevitably intertwined with ‘ How should one prepare for one’s death?’

As a response, a floral sculpture is created for one’s own funeral. Imaginging who might attend this future gathering shifts the focus from ceremony itself to the relationships, gestures, and forms of care accumulated throughout life. The sculpture  becomes a way of attending to one’s own absence in advance.

Drawing from a Korean tradition of sending large flower wreaths to funerals, the work frames moruning not only as a private loss, but as a communal moment in which care and remembrance circulate among others. Rather than marking an end, the sculpture opens a space where the traces of living continues within the living people.

눈동자와 눈꺼풀 사이 는 "우리는 어떻게 살아가야 하는가?"라는 질문에서 출발한다. 이 질문은 필연적으로 "우리는 어떻게 죽음을 준비해야 하는가?"라는 물음과 맞물린다.

이에 대한 응답으로, 작가는 자신의 장례식을 위한 화환을 제작한다. 언젠가 찾아올 모임에 다다를 이들을 상상하는 행위는, 장례라는 행위의 중심을 단순한 형식적 의식(儀式)에서 삶 전반에 걸쳐 축적된 관계와 제스처, 그리고 돌봄의 형태들로 이동시킨다. 그렇게 조각은 다가올 자신의 부재를 미리 마주하고 보살피는 하나의 방식이 된다.

장례식에 거대한 화환을 보내는 한국의 관습에서 모티브를 얻은 이 작업은, 애도를 개인의 단절된 상실에 가두지 않고 타인들 사이에서 순환하는 공동체적 순간으로 재구성한다. 이 화훼 조각은 끝을 고하는 표식이 아닌, 삶의 궤적이 살아있는 이들 내부에서 계속해서 이어지고 공명하는 장을 열어준다.
